The UEC was invited to present its initiative in front of clubs and stakeholders at the event held in Hungary
On 30th May 2023, Dr. Katarina Pijetlovic, General Secretary of the UEC, presented the Union of European Clubs at the Football Forum Hungary conference. The presentation illustrated the necessity for a truly representative club body based on democratic values and equality of its members, as well as the work of the organisation thus far.
Regarding the future plans for the organisation, Pijetlovic said that, after having a very successful launch event in Brussels, “the UEC have now entered a new phase of development and are focused on growing our membership in the run up to the first General Assembly planned for the end of the year.”
Dennis Gudasic, one of the co-founders of the UEC and CEO of NK Lokomotiva Zagreb, also gave a speech at the event. The central point of his presentation was the importance of the UEFA solidarity contributions from the perspective of a small club, and how the UEC can help similarly situated clubs. He emphasised the critical importance of a fair revenue redistribution system and explained how Solidarity provided by UEFA is a key tool enabling the survival of hundreds of clubs in Europe.
Pijetlovic and Gudasic met with the representatives of a Hungarian clubs to introduce the UEC initiative, which aims to fill a massive void and create a fairer and more sustainable football ecosystem.
The all-day event was visited by over 400 participants from football industry coming from all over Europe and will be held again next year.
